FRIKSTAILERS

BIO
FRIKSTAILERS
The Frikstailers is the high energy, super rhythmic and sampladelic project in which Rafael Caivano and Lisandro Sona work their magic for the freestyle dancefloor. Their music assimilates the output of contemporary pop artists, lovingly dismembering the original productions. The resulting microsounds are processed and mutated until they take on another dimension, reaching another aesthetic and meaning. After passing through the Frikstailers multiprocessors, these mainstream hits are mixed with beats and melodies inspired by a diverse range of sources, flirting with dancehall, cumbia, reggaeton, hip hop, funk, baile funk, b-more, electro, house and techno. While the results may be strange, schizophrenic even, they retain the glamour and pop nous of the original tracks.

In their short life they’ve already played at festivals like Mutek Buenos Aires (2006), Creamfields Buenos Aires (2008), NiuFest!!! (Córdoba - 2006), QuboCultural.Zip (Guadalajara - 2006), ExperimentaClub Festival (Madrid - 2007) and SXSW Festival (Austin, Texas).

At present they are involved in a number of collaborations, with remixes for artists worldwide such as El Guincho (Spain), Rock & Junior (France), Fauna (Argentina) and MC Gringo (Brazil) They’re also members of the resident DJ crew at Random Club (Córdoba).

Frikstailers are part of the catalogue of Pino Rec, a label based in Mexico and Argentina, whose objective is to promote Latin American artists that compose electronic fusion music.

MARCELO FABIAN

BIO
MARCELO FABIAN
Since the year 2000 Marcelo Fabian has been making music that investigates the rhythms and sounds of Argentina and Latin America, exploring both traditional and contemporary folk music from across the continent. In marrying these traditional music forms with extant textures and beats, new destinations are reached.

In 2003 he released the album Crema Americana y Electrodomestico, a journey through the repertoire of local song, reinterpreting popular folk music from Argentina and neighbouring countries.

2005 saw the release of Beija Flor, where experiments with cumbia rhythms yielded extraordinary results.

Sed de Mal, released in 2007, continued the explorations of the previous record, this time adding vocals from the worlds of hip hop and dancehall.

He is presently recording new material and collaborating with a number of Argentine musicians.

DOUSTER

BIO
DOUSTER
Born and raised in Lyon, France, Douster’s musical journey began somewhere between the then ubiquitous sound of Euro dance, and the 50’s rhythm and blues tapes screaming out of the stereo in the family car. At the tender age of 8 he turned on to French rap, and hip hop music was to be a constant during his teenage years.

Having bought his first Technics at the age of 14 to learn how to scratch, he soon moved on to making beats for his friends and mastering the art of production. The influence of dancehall music and local dub sound systems saw heavy sub bass make an appearance in his productions. And when a close friend brought round crate full of smiley faced vinyl, he instantly fell in love with acid house and early 90’s newbeat. At 22, he’s now trying to forge his own kind of house music, mixing his many influences to cook up that wobbly jackin’ sound!

From reggae sound systems to South American freestyle clubs, Douster remains a supreme entertainer, following in the grand tradition of the hip hop DJ. His DJ sets combine a wide range of bass music, mixing top class fidget house, world ghetto music, and classic rave hits.
